For SIFT’s Doctor, Sandra Villagra, the most important part of her job is being able to provide high quality care for her patients. She enjoys working for SIFT because it gives her the opportunity to help the people who need it the most.
The cost of medicines at government-run clinics in Nicaragua often makes healthcare unaffordable for the poor. For people living in rural communities on the island of Ometepe access to healthcare is further restricted as the facilities are located in the main towns. Each year Dr Sandra and our team of nurses treat around 2,500 patients in SIFT’s health clinics on Ometepe. Patients pay a small affordable fee and receive all medicines that they need for free.

Dr Sandra’s work wouldn’t be possible without the financial support of people in the UK. By sponsoring her you will be helping us to continue providing high quality healthcare to the people of Ometepe. We suggest £15 a month, however any amount would be a great help.
